GS1 Standards help solve for regulatory requirements and product safety

Companies today face stringent expectations around patient, product, and food safety. They are expected to satisfy increasing industry requirements and consumer demand for more—and better—product information. The most pressing drivers stem from regulatory agencies, including:

ü     Saudi Food and Drug Authority

ü     Unique Medical Device Identification (UDI) Rule

ü     Patient Protection Act

ü     Standardized Drug Identification

ü     Drug Supply Chain Security Act

ü     Saudi Customs Service Traceability

ü     Consumer Product Safety Commission

GS1 works collaboratively with industry stakeholders—including government agencies and other regulatory and public sector organizations—to help companies solve for regulatory requirements and product safety. Several efforts are underway in Fresh Foods, Retail Grocery, Foodservice, Healthcare, General Merchandise, and other industries focused on utilizing GS1 Standards to bring visibility into the supply chain
